	~~The European Union Reference Laboratory (EURL)~~ for ~~residues~~ of ~~veterinary medicines and contaminants in food~~ of ~~animal origin~~ and ~~eight National Reference Laboratories~~ (~~NRLs~~) ~~are attached to~~ the ~~BVL pursuant to Regulation~~ (EC) ~~No. 882/2004~~.		In the field of feed safety and animal nutrition, it is responsible for drafting legislation at the federal level and for coordinating its implementation with the assistance of the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL). Regarding food safety risks, the BMEL receives advice from the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR).
