The adoption of Law No. 9863 On Food, enacted in 2008, is to a large extent harmonised with the EU Acquis in the field of food safety. It provides the basis and principles for ensuring the protection of food safety standards and consumer interests as well as the requirements for the production and trading of food and feed.
